Migraine symptom - I Wonder
February 8th, 2010 . by adminThe list of migraine symptoms always amazes me because they vary so widely from one sufferer to another. My co-worker and I both suffer from migraines. She has the typical visual disturbance auras of seeing lights or halos before the onset of a migraine and cannot tolerate loud noises. I have not experienced seeing lights and cannot tolerate the sound of my voice, which seems odd to me. Others can ask me questions while I can only nod or shake my head (very slightly as movement hurts). Most migraine sufferers cannot tolerate the slightest of noises. One symptom in common is that we both suffer from what we call “brain slow down” when experiencing a migraine. Doctors call it “word salad” when describing this symptom in dementia patients. Once, when trying to ask my husband if he fed the dogs, I could not think of the word “dog”. I described them as “the things with fur that live in the pens, outside and retrieve things’. He looked at me as if I were crazy and said “the dogs?” Eureka! That is exactly what I meant. This symptom has provided a little humor in the otherwise painful migraine experience.
