The Leptat Process Versus Sandblasting
March 30th, 2009 . by adminIf you’ve ever wondered how the etched glass designs and panels are created, you may want to know about the leptat etching process. The artist treats the glass like an easle and slowly carves out shavings of glass to creat an image. Each angle and scratch creates the complex designs you may have seen before on shower doors, front doors and decorative mirrors. The leptat process is the more sophisticated and expensive way to reach this look but there is a sandblasting method that provided panels at a more afforable rate due to the less accurate and artistic picture. Both methods still provide a unique image.
